PSLE Science Tuition Singapore

PSLE Science is assessed in a single paper split into two booklets. Booklet A is multiple choice and Booklet B is open-ended, together worth 100 marks. The paper draws on five big themes taught across the primary years: Diversity, Cycles, Systems, Energy, and Interactions. Many questions are experiment-based, asking students to read data tables and graphs, compare variables, and apply concepts to unfamiliar situations rather than simply recall facts. Results are graded on the PSLE Achievement Level (AL) bands, from AL1 to AL8, and open-ended answers are marked on the use of correct science keywords and clear reasoning, which is exactly what we drill.

Most marks lost in PSLE Science are lost in Booklet B, where a student understands the idea but does not phrase the answer the way the marker needs. We teach the essential science keywords for each topic and train students to write cause-and-effect explanations that link evidence to conclusion. We also build the inquiry skills the paper rewards: interpreting graphs and tables, identifying the variables in an experiment, and transferring a concept to a new context. Working across the five themes, we make sure the fundamentals from the lower-primary years are secure, then sharpen exam technique and timing on past-year questions. For P6 students we diagnose weak themes quickly and focus on the question types that move the AL.

PSLE Science is graded on the Achievement Level (AL) system, from AL1 (highest) to AL8, based on your child's mark across Booklets A and B. Each subject is scored independently, and the four subject ALs are added to give the overall PSLE score used for secondary school posting.

P5 is ideal. The upper-primary themes build on the lower-primary foundations, so a strong P5 start makes P6 far less stressful. P6 students are just as welcome; we quickly diagnose weak themes and focus on open-ended answering technique before the exam.

The open-ended questions in Booklet B, especially experiment-based questions and those needing precise keywords and cause-and-effect explanations, are where most marks are lost. Our lessons drill exactly these, along with interpreting graphs and data.
